Third Day of Spring, 2022
Good morning,
After testing over 4,000 students and employees in the first couple of days, we have eliminated the lines for testing at both campuses! I am proud of the work done by the team to put the testing centers, continuously monitoring the need, adding capacity, addressing student need by providing chairs, and managing the lines. Managing literally thousands of testing within a very short time and matching supply with demand while being fiscally prudent is a tough ask. We have got it under control within a day and a half! Kudos to the team! The attached picture shows the situation at West campus around mid-morning today! Thank you, deans, for actively monitoring the check-in stations and talking to students waiting in the line to keep the situation under control. Thanks to all employees who showed up at the check-in stations and testing center to experience the situation first hand and help answer questions. While a lot has been accomplished, there are always opportunities to improve. If you have ideas, please bring it forward.
On the brighter side, the number of cars I saw in the parking lot at West campus exceeded anything we have witnessed in the last year. We have distributed several add codes to students to get them into the classes they need. Our FTES has exceeded 5,000 and is still climbing. I understand faculty members have given out a few thousand add codes to students to increase access. Please encourage the students to take advantage of the add codes as soon as they can! We have over a thousand students this Spring compared to last year! Let us continue the great work to support our students, provide them the access they need, and all the services they deserve. Together, we can make it happen!
