CHAFEE Grant Appeal
Academic Progress Standards
MJC students must maintain the following Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards to remain in good academic standing for the CHAFEE grant award.
- Maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or above
- Complete at least 67% of all units attempted
- Complete program of study within 150% of the published length of the program

Per Senate Bill 150, students can receive the Chafee Grant for up to four consecutive semesters before losing the grant due to not making SAP; however, students will be required to meet with a counselor to develop / review a Success Plan along the way in order to continue receiving Chafee funds.

Student fails to meet SAP requirements for two consecutive semesters To maintain eligibility and receive a refund, student must meet with a counselor to develop a Success Plan for improving academic progress. |
Student fails to meet SAP requirements for three consecutive semesters To maintain eligibility and receive a refund, student must meet with a counselor to review and update their Success Plan. |
