Modesto Junior College will begin fall semester classes on Monday, August 29 with some additional parking challenges on the West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Avenue, Modesto. Due to the loop road construction project on West campus, parking will be impacted with closure of the following student parking facilities: Lot 209 (near the child development center) and Lots 202/203 (next to the soccer field).
Students with classes on West Campus are asked to allow extra time for navigating the campus parking and are encouraged to consider the option of parking on East Campus and riding the free Prime Shine Pirate Express shuttle to West Campus. Students have been notified via email, and will receive updates and continuing communications through the rest of this week.
To assist students, an electronic sign board will be placed at the campus entrance
from Blue Gum at 4th Street, alerting when the lots are full and indicating the need to transition to
the Brinks Road access points. Brinks Road will be open at the familiar bridge location
and the gates north of the ACE Pavilion will also be open to increase access from
Brinks. Signage will be posted on Carpenter at both the Brinks and Fire Science Road
intersections providing directions to access from Brinks Road.
The loop road construction on West Campus is one of the final stages of the Yosemite Community College District’s Measure E projects.
Questions about the lot closures may be directed to Al Alt, vice president of administrative services at 575-6122, or to Lloyd Jackson, director of campus safety at 575-6352.
