Art Gallery presents Into the Void: The Art of Richard D. Serros
Modesto Junior College Art Gallery presents “Into the Void: The Art of Richard D. Serros” on display from January 19 through February 4, 2016. The exhibit features paintings, drawings and prints created by Serros, MJC professor of art, during his sabbatical in 2014-15.
A free, public reception with the artist will be held on Thursday, January 21, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Gallery. Serros will speak at 6 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
The MJC Art Gallery is located on East Campus, 435 College Ave., Modesto, and is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition is sponsored by the MJC Visual Arts Club and admission is free.
A retrospective show of Serros’ works produced over the past 40 years is also being shown simultaneously through January 29 at the Mistlin Gallery in downtown Modesto. The works range in style from realist to abstract to non-objective. The show also features the works of two MJC art students, Leo Bratenas and Katinka Van Dyk, who have worked with Serros over the last two years.
The Mistlin Gallery, run by Central California Art Association, is located at 1015 J Street. Admission is free and the gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. At the Mistlin Gallery, a reception will be part of the Third Thursday Art Walk on Jan. 21, from 5:30 to 9 p.m., and Serros will speak at 7:30 p.m.
