MJC choirs offer “The French Connection” concert
The Modesto Junior College Department of Music presents “The French Connection” – a spring choral concert – on Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Performing Art Center on East Campus, 435 College Avenue, Modesto.
Under the direction of Professor Cathryn Tortell, the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers are performing a lively collection of choral works that showcase the surprising French connection between the influence of legendary composition teacher, Nadia Boulanger, and what has become standard “American” repertoire.
“You will experience the music of Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story” Medley, Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber and others in an entirely new light,” said Professor Tortell. “Come along for this melodic, trans-Atlantic journey!”
Concert tickets are $6 general admission and $5 for students, seniors, and children.
Tickets are for sale in advance at the Auditorium Box Office, open Tuesday through
Friday, 12 noon to 5 p.m., or by calling (209) 575-6776 during these hours. Tickets
will also be available at the door beginning 90 minutes prior to the performance.
Campus parking is free for the evening.
