MJC Human Services Program offers a presentation by Drew Williams, ACCBC Chair
Addiction Counselor Certification Board of California chair Drew Williams will present critical information regarding student registration requirements for AOD Certification on Thursday, September, 26 2019 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Forum 102.
Drew Williams holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy and is a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor IV. Drew has over a decade of clinical treatment experience specializing in treating addiction and the co-occurring disorders that create problem saturated stories and unhealthy lifestyles. His therapeutic orientation is postmodern approaches to addiction treatment and his philosophy is to assist clients and their families in finding hope, healing and transformation.
Drew has also had extensive experience in updating, modifying and creating addiction studies programs at the community college and university levels. He is the founding director of the Addiction Studies Concentration at Antioch University Los Angeles which he retired from in 2014 to pursue other ventures. Drew also created Master’s level addiction studies courses for the Cal State system which are currently being taught today.
Drew became a member of CAADE in 2007 and since that time has been an active advocate helping to promote higher education in the addiction treatment profession. Drew joined the CAADE board of directors in 2014 and was immediately an active member joining three different committees on his first day as a board member. Drew was elected as Secretary of the Executive Committee in 2016 and served with distinction until he resigned his position in October of 2017 so he could serve as the newly appointed Chair of the ACCBC (Addiction Counselor Certification Board of California). At that time, Drew suspended all of his academic ventures so he could focus on the task of CAADE’s re-accreditation and approval as a recognized certifying organization.
Drew continues to work with clients providing case-management, recovery/sober coach services and as an interventionist as well as overseeing all day-to-day operations and all aspects of certification for CAADE’s ACCBC.
