MJC to host statewide Latina Leadership Network Conference
The Modesto Junior College Chapter of the Latina Leadership Network (LLN) will host the 2016 California LLN conference on April 7-9 at MJC’s West Campus. Approximately 200 community college staff, administrators, faculty and students from all over the state are expected to attend the conference.
The conference, themed "Cadena: Linking & Strengthening our (Culture) Cultura, Our Students & Our Success,” will feature a variety of keynote speakers and workshops promoting higher education and professional development by addressing issues pertaining to the success of Latinos in higher education.
Keynote speakers include Eddie Garcia, ESEReport.com, speaking on “Overcoming Barriers on the Way to the Corner Office”; Jessie Ryan, executive vice president of The Campaign for College Opportunity, discussing “State of Higher Education for Latinos”; Fabiana Lacerca-Allen, president of Ethiprax, presenting on “Building Resilience and Resolve” and Virginia Madueño, president of Imagin, speaking on “Motivating for a successful tomorrow.”
The program will also include a panel presentation on “IEPI –An Innovative Approach to Improving Institutional Effectiveness” by Theresa D. Tena, vice chancellor of institutional effectiveness for the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office; Matthew C. Lee, Ph. D., special projects consultant for higher education and project director for the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative, and James E. Todd, Ph.D., vice president of student services at Modesto Junior College. Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) is a collaborative effort to help colleges and districts improve their fiscal and operational effectiveness and increase student success.
