Support Service Learning Outcomes
Expected learning outcomes for support services are defined and published on web pages for each service area. SSLOs are also communicated at the point of service such as appointments, workshops, presentations, and related activities.
The following are Student Services Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). Each Support Service Learning Outcome is mapped to/informs a Service Area Outcome in eLumen. The mapping is indicated after each SSLO
CalWORKs
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will understand CalWORKS services and follow the regulations necessary
to maintain program eligibility.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. CalWORKs students understand and follow the CalWORKS program student agreement.
2. CalWORKs students will be knowledgeable about CalWORKS program requirements and
services.
Campus Life & Student Learning SAO
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will have the opportunity to gain leadership training and development.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Students entering the Project LEAD program will increase skills regarding MJC History,
Teamwork, Conflict Resolution, and Time Management.
Career Development and Transfer Center
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will know the process to successfully access resources at the Career Development
and Transfer Center.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Students will understand the necessary steps in the application process to apply
to the UC and/or CSU, and will demonstrate this knowledge through the electronic submission
of their application.
2. Students will be knowledgeable of the Career Development and Transfer Center resources.
Counseling Center
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will demonstrate knowledge of counseling services available on campus
as well as components of services where their needs are not met.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Students will demonstrate increased knowledge in the three patterns offered after
meeting with a counselor (GE, CSU, IGETC).
2. Students will accurately calculate a college GPA and effectively monitor their
progress towards educational goals.
Disabled Student Programs & Services (DSPS)
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. DSPS students will understand the accommodations and services available for them.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. DSPS students will be able to identify and utilize effective accommodations, including
technology, to complete their goals.
2. DSPS students will be able to request and use accessible materials to compensate
for their functional limitations.
Enrollment Services
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will be able to identify the various services provided by the Enrollment
Services department.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Students will be able to identify the requirements and the process of the Academic
Renewal by attending a workshop and taking part in a pre and post survey.
2. Students will be able to identify and select the various General Petitions available
to students by taking part in a pre and post survey.
EOPS/CARE
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will understand EOPS/CARE services and follow the regulations necessary
to maintain program eligibility.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. EOPS/CARE students will understand and follow the Mutual Responsibility Contract.
2. EOPS/CARE students will be knowledgeable about EOPS/CARE program requirements and
services.
Health Services
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will be knowledgeable about resources to improve wellness.
2. Students will understand the benefits of mental health services.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Students will identify health resources on and off campus.
2. Students referred to Mental Health counseling will be satisfied with the therapy
received.
Student Financial Services
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will understand the rules, regulations, and commitments of receiving financial
aid at MJC.
2. Students will understand the financial aid application process through the assistance
provided by Student Financial Services.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Students will understand MJC Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) regulations,
requirements, and appeal opportunities through workshops made available to them when
they reach Financial Aid warning status due to low GPA, Pace Rate, or both.
2. Students will learn how to complete the Financial Aid application during Financial
Aid Fridays and other workshops.
Student Success and Access
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. The Office of Student Success and Access will provide core services to area high
school students.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Students will be knowledgeable about admissions, financial aid applications, assessment
testing, and enrollment in courses specific to their academic goals.
Student Success and Support Program
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will complete orientation, assessment testing, and student educational
planning.
2. Students at all levels of academic or progress probation will experience greater
retention rates through follow-up services.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Students will be able to complete core steps after meeting with a Student Success
Specialist.
2. Students will show increased knowledge of student support services on campus after
meeting with a Student Success Specialist.
3. Students will utilize campus resources that will assist them with goal attainment
upon completing service interventions with a Student Success Specialist.
4. Students will understand and comply with college requirements to remain in good
standing upon completing service interventions with Student success Specialist.
TRIO Pre-College Programs
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will understand college application and financial aid processes.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Program participants will demonstrate understanding of student responsibilities
as an MJC college student.
2. Program participants will understand financial aid terminology and the FAFSA completion
process.
TRIO Student Support Services
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Students will access and complete state and federal financial aid to meet their
full financial needs.
2. Students will be able to research and understand transfer admissions requirements
to CSU and UC, as well as how to apply online for transfer programs.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Students will understand Student Financial Aid awards and Pell Grant requirements.
2. Students will be able to select the CSU or UC campus that best fits their educational
goals, and to identify the CSU or UC admissions and transfer requirements.
3. Students will be able to complete the CSU Online Admissions Applications process.
Veteran Resource Center
Service Area Outcomes (SAO)
1. Veteran and Dependent students will know about available resources and services
specifically designed for Veteran and Dependent students at Modesto Junior College.
Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)
1. Veteran and Dependent students will be able to identify and understand educational
benefits earned through military service.
2. Veteran and Dependent students will understand degree requirements, as well as
receive necessary referrals and interventions in order to improve retention, transfer,
and graduation rates.
3. Veteran and dependent students will understand terminology and community resources
available through military service upon completion of meeting with Veteran Center
staff.
