Final Exam Schedule

What you need to know about Final Examinations: Below you will find the final exam schedule for classes offered during the fall semester. Final examinations, unless otherwise posted, are held in the traditional class meeting location. The date and time of your final exam is included in the class syllabus distributed by your instructor. It is your responsibility to report to your final at the assigned time and place.

Students, please take note:  In some instances, you may find that you have two finals scheduled at the same time on the same day. If you have a time conflict between two exams, it is your responsibility to make alternative arrangements with your instructor(s) at least two weeks prior to the Monday of finals week.

MJC Faculty, please take note:  The final exam period is a required, apportionment-generating class period.  Each full-term class must meet during the designated final exam slot. The final exam schedule is designed to provide distinct three-hour blocks for each two-day course meeting MW or TTh.  This schedule accommodates most, but not all, class starting times and class meeting days.  In particular, classes meeting only one day per week can be problematic.  To minimize and resolve final exam time conflicts:

  • MTWTh classes may utilize either the MW or TTh final exam slot listed
  • One-day-per-week classes should utilize the time slot on the class’s regular meeting day that most overlaps the final exam slot.  Example:  A class meeting 12:45-3:50 only on Wednesdays should use the 1-3:50 exam slot on Wednesday
  • When a one-day class is in conflict with a two- or four-day-per-week class, the latter shall have priority.
  • When two classes are in room conflict except as above, the class of the department to which the room is assigned has priority.  The other class will move to another room, as arranged by the division dean and college facilities office.
  • Arrangement for final examinations that need to be held at times other than shown in the schedule must be made at least two weeks before the Monday of finals week, subject to the approval of the division dean.

Any variations from the schedule below require permission from the division dean and must be reserved by contacting the College Facilities/Events office.
