Canvas Essentials

To log in to Canvas, select the Canvas icon at the upper right of this webpage. Then log in with your MJC email address and password.

Cool Tools for Canvas is a resource shell for faculty at MJC and includes information on the following topics:

  • Online Education Workshop recordings
  • Canvas quick tips and shortcuts
  • Accessibility Resources
  • Creating videos, screencasts, and screenshots
  • Video quizzes and discussions
  • Proctoring and plagiarism tools
  • Embedding films, Bitmoji, polls, and word clouds in Canvas
  • Sharing files online
  • 24/7 Canvas Support for Faculty is available through live chat or call. Go to the Canvas Support page and select "Contact Support".
  • MJC Daytime Tech & Canvas Support: Available during regular work week hours for the MJC Campuses. Call (209) 575-7900, press "4" for Tech support or Press "5" for Canvas support.
    • Summer Hours: M–Th 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
    • Fall & Spring Hours: M–F 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Live Chat: From the Canvas Dashboard, select the chat box in the lower right to live chat or send an email to the MJC Online Help Desk.
  • Service Desk: Create a Tech Support Ticket Online

Request a Sandbox Shell (MJC Faculty Only)

A "sandbox" Canvas shell for experimentation purposes. Sandbox shells are never populated with students, but the content can be easily copied into any shell for a semester course.

Professional Development for Online Teaching Resources

The @ONE Certification Course will teach you course design skills, show you how to improve your student success and retention rates, and give you tips and tricks for making the most of our learning management system and new media.
The Vision Resource Center offers online trainings on a variety of topics. To access, log in with your YCCD email address and select "Browse Training" to either see all the available trainings or search by topic.
