100-Year Tree Anniversary Ceremony

March 10, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

On March 10, 2026, the Modesto Junior College community will gather to commemorate a truly meaningful milestone, the 100-year anniversary of our historic tree. This special ceremony honors not only the tree’s century of life, but also its enduring connection to World War heroes and the shared history that unites the MJC community. The event will formally recognize the tree as a lasting tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who served, and its presence continues to symbolize the strength, resilience, and unity of Modesto Junior College. Petey and Penelope will bring a spirited and welcoming presence while supporting school pride, and light refreshments will be provided for guests. We invite students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to join us in celebrating 100 years of history, remembrance, and resilience as we honor the past and look toward the future beneath the branches of a tree that has stood the test of time. This event is presented by an ASMJC Senator Project in collaboration with the MJC Veterans Services Department.
