Announcement went out to MJC faculty and staff on July 2025.
Zoom will soon be limiting our online storage of recordings to one year and deleting the previous year's recordings on an annual basis. We should consider Zoom Cloud Recording storage temporary and create workflows for storing recordings for longer than one year if needed. Just a friendly note/reminder that any recordings of live class sessions that include students cannot be shared outside of the course section in which they were recorded for compliance with FERPA.
Please note that any recordings you have created prior to July 31, 2024 will be removed from Zoom starting October 2, 2025. Please download any of these recordings you want to keep before October 2nd.
For long-term storage, you can transfer the videos to Canvas Studio or another place you prefer such as YouTube.
We like Canvas Studio because the caption editor is easy to use, and the videos can be embedded in Canvas courses for students to watch without having to click a link to open in a new window. You can also choose to create links/embed codes to share anywhere online.
