The Applied Electrical Technology Program prepares students for careers as industrial engineering technologists and installation/maintenance technicians. Students receive theoretical and laboratory instruction in electrical principles, electrical installations, principles of automation, sensors and controls, PLCs, industrial equipment, and control systems. All of the “ELTEC” coded classes included in the Applied Electrical Technology Associate in Science are approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards as officially recognized classes for the training of electrical trainees (ET) in the State of California.
The Automation Technician Certificate of Achievement is designed for practicing technicians in the field, or advanced Industrial Electronics students, seeking to increase their skills in Automation and Systems Integration.
The Basic Automation Training certificate is designed for individuals in technical field positions, that include a solid electrical background, who are seeking basic qualifications to be hired or promoted to entry-level positions in instrumentation or process control departments. The certificate is designed as the entry point for more advanced training leading to specializations in automation. All the classes included in the Basic Automation Training Certificate of Achievement are approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards as officially recognized classes for the training of Electrical Trainees for the State of California.
The Calibration and Instrumentation Technician Apprentice Certificate Program is designed for individuals hired as apprentices by member employers of the Stanislaus County Area Manufacturing and Maintenance Joint Apprenticeship Committee. The program is designed so that an employer hires the apprentice, and the apprentice increases his/her occupational skills and knowledge through On-The-Job Training at the employer site while attending specific college courses approved as related supplemental instruction at Modesto Junior College.
The Electrical Business Entrepreneurship Certificate of Achievement prepares students in technical matters applied to the electrical construction industry with an entrepreneurship perspective. Students will learn electrical safety protocols and regulations, applied electrical theory, read electrical blueprints, wiring techniques applied to residential, commercial, or industrial installations, the interpretation and application of the National Electrical Code, and the commercial basis for establishing and running an electrical business operation. All the classes coded as "ELTEC" included in this program are approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards as officially recognized classes for the training of Electrical Trainees for the State of California.
The Electrical Installer Certificate of Achievement prepares students to establish a career in the construction industry as electrical installers. Students will learn electrical safety protocols and regulations, apply electrical theory, read electrical blueprints, wiring techniques (apply to residential, commercial, or industrial installations,) and the interpretation and application of the National Electrical Code. All the classes included in this program are approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards as officially recognized classes for the training of Electrical Trainees for the State of California.
The Electrical Maintenance Assistant Certificate of Achievement is designed for individuals seeking to advance their qualifications to be hired or promoted in electrical maintenance positions. The certificate is designed as the gateway for mid-range programs within the electrical technology and maintenance areas (see Electrotechnical Assistant or Electro-Mechanical Technical Assistant.) This certificate leads to more advanced training in automation, electrical technology, or maintenance. Advisory: Those interested in a specific technical profile (automation, electrical industry, or maintenance) may receive an orientation by consulting a counselor or a faculty member of the ELTEC department. However, any combination of elective classes will place the holder of the award in a technical assistance position within any industry. Seeking multiple qualifications (taking more than one elective) enhances the employability profile. All “ELTEC” coded classes included in the Electrical Maintenance Assistant Certificate of Achievement are approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards as officially recognized classes for the training of electrical trainees (ET) in the State of California.
The Electrician Program prepares students for careers in electrical installation and repair for the Public Utilities, Manufacturing and Construction industries. Students will study the principles of electricity, wiring, common devices, components, and PLCs.
The Electrician Maintenance Apprentice Certificate Program is designed for individuals hired as apprentices by member employers of the Stanislaus County Area Manufacturing and Maintenance Joint Apprenticeship Committee. The program is designed so that an employer hires the apprentice, and the apprentice increases his/her occupational skills and knowledge through On-The-Job Training at the employer site while attending specific college courses approved as related supplemental instruction at Modesto Junior College.
The Electro-Mechanic Program prepares students interested in career opportunities in Plant or Facilities Maintenance by offering electrical preparation with mechanic knowledge and skills exposure. Students receive the principles in AC/DC electricity, wiring, motor controllers, welding, machine shop, pneumatic/hydraulics and PLC .
The Electro-Mechanical Technical Assistant Certificate of Achievement is designed for individuals seeking to advance their qualifications to be hired or promoted in electro-mechanical maintenance positions.
