The primary Modesto Junior College Athletics logo is exclusively reserved for use by MJC Athletics.
No individual or department should use this logo as a replacement for the primary Modesto Junior College logo, unless it is for athletics use.

Legibility of the logo type is of the utmost importance at all times regardless of the medium it appears on. Because of this, the logo can be scaled down to a minimum size of three and a half inches wide on all printed material. Scaling the logo smaller than the minimum size will result in violating ADA compliance.

The pirate mascot is used to identify Modesto Junior College athletic teams across media.
The pirate mascot can be used as an alternative secondary logo for official athletics apparel or designs. If used for non-uniform or fan apparel, the mascot should be accompanied with the Modesto Junior College wordmark, or should be used with the primary athletics logo.
Use of the mascot is subject to the content of the item or communications it appears on. The pirate mascot brand mark can be used for outreach purposes, and efforts outside of promotional athletics, if deemed appropriate. The pirate mascot is used in artwork to promote college spirit and is appropriate for visuals that promote student involvement in campus life. The mascot brand mark is also appropriate for use on messaging in areas within Student Services, not academic offices in the institution.
The mascot illustration cannot be edited or revised for aesthetic or design purposes. Technical edits may be made to ensure quality in all applications, such as embroidery or engraving. Any revisions to the mascot illustration are restricted and subject to approval by the Office of Marketing & Public Relations.
If you have questions about which logo is appropriate to use for apparel, promotional materials, or design work, please reach out to the Modesto Junior College Office of Marketing and Public Relations.
Maintain a spacing around the mascot artwork equivalent to the width of the “M” on the hat of the pirate.
When using the mascot logo, ensure it does not reduce beyond the 1 inch minimum size. This insures the details of the icon are preserved at a reduced size and maintains high quality printed. Please note: some production methods, like embroidery, may require a minimum size that is larger due to production limitations.

MJC Blue should always be the primary color. The blue should be prominently featured on all creative media unless otherwise approved. No outside entity or individual is allowed to modify or replace the MJC blue on any printed or digital materials.
Secondary colors should be used to add accent and interest to select uniforms, fan apparel, and promotional materials. These colors are not substitutes for the primary blue, and cannot replace it on any apparel or promotional materials unless its use would be a detriment to the production of the product.
Neutrals are used to accent, add interest, and insure the legibility of text on uniforms and promotional materials.

Uniform back must prominently display the player’s number if it is mandatory for the sport. All uniforms may embellish the left sleeve or short/pant leg(s) with accent typography or the mascot logo.
The mascot logo can be substituted for all typography on the front chest if the team name and number are not mandatory for the sport (such as Track & Field).
If the uniform is limited to a single placement on the front chest, utilize the typography lockup of “MJC + Sport” as shown in the Men’s Golf and Women’s Swim uniform examples above.

Practice uniforms offer opportunity for flexibility in design per season and per sport. It is important to ensure consistency with the college’s branding to create a strong visual identity for MJC Athletics and foster a sense of unity among athletes. While individual sports may have specific needs, maintaining consistent branding across all practice uniforms promotes a unified identity for Modesto Junior College Athletics.
Approved garment colors: MJC Blue, Royal Blue, black, Eggshell Blue, charcoal, grey, white.
Practice uniforms should reflect the college’s official colors, logos, and overall brand identity. While game uniforms often feature elaborate designs, practice uniforms can adopt a more straightforward approach. Utilizing primary colors and minimalistic logos can help in distinguishing practice gear from game-day attire.
Incorporate the college’s official logos or monograms appropriately on practice gear. For instance, smaller logos may be better suited for caps, swimwear, or polo shirts.
Ensure that no alterations are made to the color, proportion, or design of the logos.
Ensure that all practice uniforms comply with the established guidelines, and avoid unauthorized modifications to maintain brand integrity.
Primary typeface: Collegiate BLK FLF.
All typography must not decrease below a 0.25 inch character height to maintain legibility on garment.
Practice gear that displays unique colors and design elements may be created for limited distribution per season of the applicable sport. So long as the practice gear does not alter or modify any official brand logos or elements the garment(s) may display unique/seasonal taglines, colors, etc. These uniforms are only meant to be worn for practice and are not approved to represent the college past their intended season.

Gear and equipment should reflect the college’s official colors, logos, and brand identity. Application of the branding will vary per item and per sport depending on what is most appropriate for its context. Due to the seasonality of these items, application of the artwork can be commemorative so long as it remains aligned with Modesto Junior College brand standards.
Ensure that no alterations are made to color, proportion, or design of the logos on each item.
The mascot ‘M’ is a historic brandmark and is reserved for Athletics use on baseball caps only.
Approved gear and equipment colors: MJC Blue, Royal Blue, white, black, charcoal.

Fan apparel is not limited by regulations per sport and can explore variations in garment type, artwork placement, and color combination. Usage and alternative applications are subject to department approval.
All athletics logos must adhere to the guidelines outlined on this page or they will not be approved.
The mascot must always appear in its original coloring and cannot be changed for any alternative piece of apparel unless it is printed in single color white.
Garments only using typography must utilize a primary, secondary, or tertiary logo as outlined on this page.
Approved garment colors: MJC Blue, Royal Blue, black, pink (Pantone 189 C, # F6A3BB, R 246 / G 163 / B 187, C 0 / M 40 / Y 8 / K 0), Eggshell Blue, charcoal, white, grey.

All photography and videography should be shot, edited, and presented as defined in the Modesto Junior College Brand Guide. All individuals used in digital advertising must consent to their image(s) being used, even if photography or videography is shot by an MJC employee.
Social media content for the official MJC social media accounts is managed by the Office of Marketing & Public Relations. If you’d like your events, programs, or other timely information advertised please submit a request to their office via a Design Request form.
All social media content is planned and scheduled between two - six weeks of publication. This is done to avoid over saturating the feed with redundant content.
The college utilizes several hastags for social media content creation. Please use the below tags for any of your relevant posts online. Please note that event specific or program specific tags are acceptable, but are not listed due to their short-lifespan. Keep the number of hashtags used for a single post under 12 maximum.
Visuals and text work together in this medium to communicate important events, notices, and campaigns.
Make sure photography is clear and high quality when posting.
Always insure the MJC Athletics primary logo is used on posts.
Place the logo in the bottom right corner and the URL to the website in the bottom left corner.
Captions should lead with a compelling first sentence. The preview text is cut-off at the second line of text, so a leading question or statement will encourage people to read more.
Most people skim text online, so only share the most crucial information like date, place, and time of an event. Include a url to the MJC website were people can go for more information if they desire.
Write 3-4 sentences when composing your caption, and avoid run-ons. Tag appropriate pages like @modestojuniorcollege or use a #hashtag. Share a url to mjc.edu as a CTA always.
