You were previously on financial aid warning status, and your cumulative “GPA” remains below satisfactory academic standards.  

You are currently disqualified for the following reason:

• Your cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) is below 2.0

To return to satisfactory academic standards you must meet ALL of the following criteria:

• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, AND

• Complete a minimum of 67% cumulative attempted units, AND

• Have not earned an AA/AS degree or beyond, AND

• Have attempted less than 150% of the published length of your program:

  • 90 Units Allowed: To complete a 60-unit AA/AS degree, 4-yr transfer, or vocational program

  • 45 Units Allowed: To earn a Certificate of Achievement

• You have completed less-than 67% of your cumulative attempted units

•  Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, AND

• Complete a minimum of 67% cumulative attempted units, AND

Based on our evaluation, it has been determined that you have reached maximum time frame due to one or both of the following reasons:

 You are currently disqualified for the following reason:

• Have earned an AA/AS degree or beyond AND/OR
• Have attempted more than 150% of the published length of your program:
  
  
  • Certificate Programs: Most certificate programs require 30 units; therefore, the maximum time frame to complete a certificate program is 45 attempted units (30 x 150% = 45)
    
    
  • Degree/Transfer Programs: 60 units or more are needed to graduate; therefore, the maximum time frame to complete a degree or transfer program would be 90 attempted units (60 x 150% = 90)

Please Note:  Students who have already earned a BA Degree or beyond may submit an appeal for loan consideration only.  BA degree holders do not qualify for other types of financial aid.

 

You are required to file an Appeal Continuation Request for Financial Aid consideration! 

Congratulations!  Based on your progress from the previous semester, you met the following Appeal Probation requirements:

• Earned a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or above

• Completed 75% or more of your attempted units

Since you have reached Maximum Time Frame, you must closely follow your Educational Plan.  Any tentative award office is on hold.  By completing the Appeal Continuation form, we are able to verify that you are on track to complete your educational goal(s) at MJC.

Complete the Appeal Continuation Request Form. 

• Retrieve your counselor-approved Educational Plan from Starfish.  Contact the Counseling Office to schedule an appointment if you do not an up-to-date Educational Plan.  Abbreviated Educational Plans will not be accepted
• Complete all questions on the Appeal Form

To access your education plan:

• Log into your Starfish account at mjc.edu

• Click on the 3 horizontal lines next to "My Success Network"
• Press on "Degree Planner"
• Click on your current Education Plan
• Press print then under "Destination" select to save as a PDF
• Attach your Educational Plan to the appeal submission email

 

Submit your Appeal

• Attach your Educational Plan and any documentation you wish to include
• Submit your appeal

PLEASE NOTE:  Incomplete Appeals will be returned as unprocessed.

 

Check your Student Email often for updates on the status of your appeal

• Please allow 5 - 7 business days for Financial Aid staff to accept your appeal.  You can view the status of appeal by logging into your MyMJC.  When corresponding with the Student Financial Services Office, you must always use your MJC email.
• Once an appeal decision is made, you will receive an email reply.  Please allow 2-4 weeks processing time.

We are sorry to inform you that your appeal has been denied.

An evaluation of your appeal, academic history, extenuating circumstance(s), and educational goal has been completed.  Your appeal request has been denied. Any tentative award offer will be CANCELLED.
