- Chapter Readings,
- Homework Assignments,
- Lab Assignments and
- Following Campus Distancing & Safety Practices
September 20, 2020
Students, this week we enter the 5th week of the Fall semester. Where should you be at this point in the semester? You should have access to your course Canvas Shell and be up on your reading assignments, homework and labs. You should be participating in “required” scheduled Zoom Confer Lectures for your classes. You should have attended 2-3 scheduled labs on campus by now.
To do this successfully, you should have
- textbooks in hand,
- internet access at home
- a computer/laptop to participate in your lectures, and
- materials, PPE and tools so that you can actively participate in your labs
If you are having challenges with any of these four items, please reach out to us immediately at the CTE Division Office. (209) 575 - 6332.
This month’s pandemic and California fires has tested everyone’s flexibility and grit. I want to thank you for staying with it and your adaptiveness in following safety and PPE directions when arrive on campus and working in the labs. I also want to thank those students who have been responsible by staying home and informing us when they have been exposed to COVID-19. By working together, we have been able to hold labs for all our classes during the first 4 weeks of the semester. Let’s continue to be diligent in our practices at home, at work and on campus.
Students…we are also aware in planning your home life and work life schedules that it helps to know when the campus will be open. To that end, please be aware for air quality conditions, our current guidance will keep our CTE Skill Labs open unless the AQI is over 299. As I sit at home typing this message, I am glad the skies are blue and the AQI as monitored by Air Now is moderately healthy and the index is below 100. In addition, when evaluating the COVID-19 pandemic, our ability to remain open for CTE Skill Labs is largely dependent on how we in Stanislaus County continue to responsibly practice wearing face coverings, sanitizing and physical distancing when out in the community.
Have a great 5th week.
