Forklift Training Description:

Powered industrial truck operators shall receive initial training in the types and fundamentals of operating forklifts and understanding the workplace. 

Truck-related topics include: Operating instructions, warnings, and precautions.

Truck controls and instrumentation: Where they are located, what they do, and how they work. Engine or motor operation: Steering and maneuvering, fork and attachment adaptation, operation, and use limitations. 

The training will also include any vehicle inspection and maintenance that the operator will be required to perform, any other operating instructions, warnings, or precautions listed in the operator's manual for the types of vehicles that the employee is being trained to operate. 

Workplace-related topics include: Composition of loads to be carried and load stability, load manipulation, stacking, and unstacking. Hazardous (classified) locations where the vehicle will be operated. Ramps and other sloped surfaces that could affect the vehicle's stability. Closed environments and other areas where insufficient ventilation or poor vehicle maintenance could cause a build-up of carbon monoxide or diesel exhaust, as well as other unique or potentially hazardous conditions in the workplace that could affect safe operation.

Cal OSHA Training Description:

This training program will provide entry-level worker information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid, and prevent job related hazards on a job site. 

Introduction to OSHA includes: Coverage of workers' rights, employer responsibilities, how to file complaints, and helpful worker safety and health resources.

The training covers walking and working surfaces (including fall protection exit routes), emergency action plans, fire prevention plans, and fire protection. Also, electrical dangers, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, hazardous materials, machine safety , guarding against blood borne pathogens, safety and health programs, lockout/tag out permits required for confined spaces.
