The Odessa Johnson Story
Black History Month - Oral History Special
Earlier this month MJC retiree Wes Page interviewed Odessa Johnson for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration event. Their time together led to a fascinating oral history as Odessa talked about segregation, the circumstances that brought her to Modesto, how she was the first black teacher at Modesto High School, her involvement with MJC's EOPS program, running for the School Board and being appointed to the UC Board of Regents. Sit back and listen to Odessa Johnson talk about her life, the community, and MJC. She truly is one of our treasures.
