This spring, visit the Library & Learning Center's for Letters Home, an exhibit by artist and MJC alumna Thelma Salomon-Saldivar. The exhibit, running through May 30, 2026, offers visitors a portal into a linguistic landscape where the personal dreams and hopes of refugees and immigrants are woven into a tapestry of shared consciousness.
Students and community members can view the display at MJC's East and West Campus Library & Learning Centers. Everyone is invited to a reception to meet the artist at the East Campus L & LC on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.
Thelma Salomon-Saldivar was born and raised in Sonora, Mexico, and she immigrated to the United States when she was 25 years old. She currently resides in Modesto, California, where she started learning English and later adopted her major in photography, achieving her Associate’s Degree from MJC in 2023. She is a student at CSU Sacramento. Thelma has been working as a wedding and family photographer since 2015, which she enjoys, but her passion as a photographer is to create art that addresses social issues. In 2022, her photographic project Letters Home was born. The project has been a remarkable success and has been exhibited multiple times in Stanislaus County.
