It's Banned Books Week at the Library & Learning Center

Banned Books Week is the national book community's annual celebration of the freedom to read. Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores, and libraries. The 2025 recognition of Banned Books Week is the week of October 5th - 11th.

Visit the MJC Library & Learning Center during the week of October 6 - 11 to participate in these Banned Book Week activities:

• View our Banned Books Week display featuring banned/challenged books in our collection; consider checking one out.
• Contribute the title of a favorite Banned Book to the display
• Post a photo of yourself with that book on Instagram, tagging @mjclibrary. Use the hashtag #BannedBooksWeek to declare the right to read.
