The Registered Veterinary Technician A.S. Degree will provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to enter the field of veterinary technology. Training and skill development include; the study of anatomy and physiology, disease management and prevention, animal nutrition, animal restraint and behavior recognition, equipment and facility maintenance and operation, pharmacy and laboratory training, biosecurity and client relations.

The laws established in the California Veterinary Practice Act govern the behavior
of a Registered Veterinary Technician. Consequently, the students of the Modesto Junior
College Registered Veterinary Technician Program will be bound by these same laws.
In order to provide a safe and productive learning environment and to establish behavior patterns that ensure future success in this career, all entering students will submit for a background check and drug screening. The cost for the prospective student is roughly $125.
Students must be 18 years or older and fully vaccinated for rabies at the start of the program.

A $10 processing fee may be assessed for refunds of enrollment fees equal to, or more than, $10.00 in accordance with California Code of Regulations, §58508. Credit balances which result from a CCPG fee waiver approval may be exempt from this processing fee and disbursed without student authorization.
Refunds of payments made by debit/credit card may be credited back to the originating account within 90 days of payment. If the credit cannot be submitted to the originating account for any reason, the refund will be disbursed as a check made payable to the student.
Refunds of payments made by cash or check may be disbursed as a check made payable to the student. Refunds will not be processed until the original form of payment has been cleared by the bank.
Classes must be dropped from the student’s class schedule by 11:00 PM on or before the refund date associated with the class and section number. Refund date information for each class is available online via the posted class schedule. Find details and information about how to drop a class in your course catalog.
Tuition reimbursements as a result of dropped classes will be applied as a credit to the student’s account. Only when this results in an outstanding credit balance may a refund be requested.
Modesto Junior College accepts electronically submitted transcripts from other institutions. Institutions may submit their official transcripts electronically to MJCESeForms@yosemite.edu

Each applicant must meet the educational pathway in order to become a California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
Graduates must request official transcripts from their school to be send to the Board. Transcripts can be sent to the Board's email account at vmb@dca.ca.gov
All applicants for licensure must complete the fingerprinting and pass a background check before a registration will be issued. Applicants living in California are required to get their fingerprint clearances from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) by completing the Live Scan Form and submitting it to a Live Scan location.
The Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) evaluates the competency of veterinary technicians. Most states and provinces require a passing score for a veterinary technician to be credentialed.
To become a licensed veterinary technician, most jurisdictions require a passing score on the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE).
