Overview
This program prepares students to take the national certification exam offered by
the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) to become a Certified Medical
Assistant (CMA). The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied
Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical
Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).

The estimated program cost of $2,800 includes a $46/unit enrollment fee,
a materials fee, various student fees, as well as uniform, books, certification exam,
and clinical clearance process. Program cost at Modesto Junior College is very competitive
with the cost of medical assisting programs offered by local trade schools. For information

The Medical Assisting Program begins in the fall and spring semester of
each year. It is a full-time, eight-month, certificate program offering training
in administrative (front) and clinical (back) office procedures. In addition to the
reasonable cost of this program, students of Modesto Junior College have the added
