Scholarships

The Modesto Junior College VRC recognizes military Veterans' talent and academic devotion. Additionally, we understand financial gaps can exist as students embark on an academic journey. Very generous donors and organizations have made possible two direct scholarships for our military veteran students. The VRC accepts applications on a annual basis using the MJC Scholarship Application. Applications will open in October until the 2nd Friday of December, recipients will be announced the following August.

Criteria:
  • Military Veteran
  • Minimum 12 Units*
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher

*If you are an EOPS or DSPS student you may apply with a minimum of 6 units with confirmation of enrollment in either EOPS or DSPS

The first scholarship exists in honor of Benito Aguilar, MJC student and United States Marine that truly lived and practiced selfless service to all he met. His personal example of care and compassion at the Veterans Resource Center embodies the proud service tradition of the United States Marine Corps, and the pursuit of academic excellence at MJC.

This scholarship celebrates Carol McKenzie and her 35 years of faithful service as the Modesto Junior College VA Certifying Official. Her skill in swiftly/accurately processing student veteran applications was rivaled only by her intense devotion to students and commitment to their success.
