About US

Modesto Junior College TRIO/Educational Talent Search program is designed to help young people stay in schools improve their grade point average, graduate from high school and go to college. 

TRIO/ETS is a federal program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The program serves 700 junior high and high school students by offering a comprehensive program of educational and motivational intervention strategies.

How do I qualify?

In order to be eligible for admission into ETS, a student must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  2. Low income, according to the guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Education.
  3. Potential first-generation college student.
  4. Enrollment in one of the participating schools:
    • Hanshaw Middle School
    • Mark Twain Junior High School
    • Thomas Downey High School
    • Modesto High School
    • Elliot Alternative Education Center
  5. Ages 11 through 27
  6. Completed application
  7. Maintain a GPA of a 2.0 or higher
