EOP&S PROGRAM AWARDS

EOP&S STUDENT OF THE YEAR

Each year the EOP&S Program selects a student of the year recipient.  Students selected for this prestigious award have displayed a strong work ethic, followed all program rules and regulations, and have gone above an beyond to participate in the program.

                                  2016-2017 Winner

                                      Rene Padilla

2016-2017 Student of the Year, Rene Padilla

In fall 2011, Rene enrolled at Modesto Junior College and was placed in ESL 34 and Elementary Algebra.  It took Rene four semesters to complete the ESL sequence and in spring of 2015, he took transferable English. Rene fell in love with learning and was fascinated with physics. He went on to complete Physics 165, 101 102, Calculus 1, 2 and many other classes with an A.

Rene worked hard to earn his 3.8 GPA and was determined to transfer to a CSU or UC as a Physics major. He was accepted to University of Davis, University of Merced and California State University of Stanislaus.

Rene’s ultimate goal is to work for NASA and based on his transcript, his commitment, his academic success at MJC, we are confident that he will reach his goal soon. The EOPS staff at Modesto Junior College is extremely proud of Rene’s accomplishments and we are honored to have had the opportunity to serve him.

Excellent work and congratulations Rene!
