2006-2007 Objectives for MJC
MJC's measurable goals in relation to the institutional
implementation of SLOS
On August 24, 2006,
college leadership met with the SLO Facilitator to outline
objectives for the administration, the SLO committee and the college
to accomplish in the coming weeks and months.

With the direction
of the George Railey, Dean of Instructional Services and MJC
Accrediation Liaison, form an institution-wide Student Learning
Outcomes committee that will be inclusive of Student Services,
College Services, as well as Instruction.

Determine and
define institution-level student learning objectives

Develop and
begin to execute a plan for the implementation of student
learning outcomes as a tool in an ongoing and systematic cycle
of self-evaluation.

SLO Facilitator and the SLO Committee

Provide
instructional divisions and student services areas with
individualized
SLO-related workshops to mobilize specific disciplines
and services to begin using SLOs as evidence of learning.

Conduct a Call
for Research Proposals for both Instruction and Student
Services to provide a format though which faculty and staff can
immediately begin moving forward with the use of student
learning outcomes to evaluate and improve learning.

Document learning
outcomes, the evaluation thereof, and our responses to the
feedback they provide by March, 30, 2007 for purposes of
inclusion in the MJC response to WASC for October, 2007.

Write a year-end
summary in response to the MJC WASC Accreditation Recommendation
#2, Institutionalization of SLOs by April 30, 2007.
