About the Data

What can you do now?

While the college develops a larger process or set of processes to systematically gather, house and incorporate data, you are strongly encouraged to initiate your own learning inquiry independently of a formal process. In fact, many faculty, staff, and administrators are already examining learning in courses, programs, and services to determine how improvements can be made at a grassroots level, often with unexpected findings and insights. Here are some ways you can participate:

Things you can do to get started:

  • Gather with colleagues to identify a learning objective you want to measure at the course, program, or service levels. Appoint a lead who will schedule and facilitate meetings, prepare reports and minutes of your work, and store the data.

  • Let college leadership know what you are experiencing in the process, what your needs are, challenges you've faced, as well as insight you've gained. This will be invaluable to their progress in developing a larger institutional system.

  • Share your findings with the Director of College Research and Planning. Prepare your data in aggregate, and your response in narrative form and let it be used as evidence that MJC is using evidence to improve learning.
