SLO News at MJC
SLO Committee makes recommendations to leadership for 2007-2008
In an effort to conclude activities
for the SLO Committee, but more importantly, prepare the
college for the upcoming academic year, the SLO Committee made a
short list of recommendations to College administration and the
Academic Senate.
Who will lead the SLO initiative in 2007-2008?
In fall of 2007, the Academic Senate,
the President, and the Vice President of Instruction will
invite scholars in student learning and assessment to provide
additional trainings to faculty and to make recommendations on the
implementation of SLOs. At this point, a determination will likely
be made about ongoing support for the initiative, and if need is
determined, a candidate will be selected from a hiring process (most
likely internally).

SLO Facilitator to prepare SLO
section of progress report in response to Accreditation Site Visit
in April, 2006
In January of 2006, MJC received a
series of recommendations from ACCJC/WASC. Many of them included

improvement. One entire section of recommendations revolved around
the SLO paradigm.
In October, MJC will be re-visited for
the purpose of a progress report. In preparation, the SLO
Facilitator will prepare a report on the following items.
-
Resolution of each recommendation
-
Analysis of the results achieved
to date
-
Evidence of the results
-
Additional plans that have been
developed to continue progress.
