Welcome to the Science Teaching Academy and Network (STAN) website. STAN is a partnership between Modesto Junior College (MJC) and the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) that is funded by the Improving Teacher Quality State Grants Program (formerly the Eisenhower Program) and is administered by the California Postsecondary Education Commission.

STAN is an innovative professional development program designed for fourth, fifth, and sixth grade teachers to increase their knowledge of science content and pedagogy based on the California science content standards.

The program includes three courses that focus on earth, life and physical sciences.
