What happened to the teachers?
Welcome to the Modesto Junior College Child Development Center Lab Preschool Program.
Our preschool classroom provides a developmentally sound, child-centered program, giving your child choices of a wide variety of learning activities. The activities, toys, games, routines and teaching techniques are geared to meet the social, emotional, cultural/linguistic, intellectual, and physical needs of each child. Your child is given many opportunities that can help him/her get ready for kindergarten, including group-time activities with stories, music, movement and sharing time.
Student teachers, under the guidance of the Lab Instructor and Instructional Assistant, observe and assess the developmental growth of each child and plan the daily activities based on those observations. We encourage your child to develop skills through hands-on, real-life experiences that allow for self-discovery and feelings of pride in your child.
The student teachers guide your child to recognize his/her emotions and encourage communication to reflect those feelings in appropriate ways while respecting the rights of others.
