Economics

Economics Department

The art of economics consists in looking not merely at the immediate but at the longer effects of any act or policy; it consists in tracing the consequences of that policy not merely for one group but for all groups.  (~Henry Hazlitt, Economics in One Lesson)

The Economics Department offers three classes in Economics: Principles of Macroeconomics (MECON 101), Economic Principles: Microeconomics (MECON 102), and Economic History of the United States (crosslisted with MHIST 115).  All courses are transfer level courses, fulfill Area B requirement for MJC General Education for an Associate Degree, Area D of the CSU GE Transfer Pattern, and Area 4 of the IGETC Transfer Pattern.   Economics courses are also useful for students getting degrees in Business Administration.
