Work Study Programs

Federal Work-Study (FWS):
Provides part-time employment for students who demonstrate financial need. Students begin work after an official agreement is on file with the Financial Aid Office and may not work for more than 20 hours per week, except when school is not in session.

Students must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work under this program.

The Federal Work-Study Coordinator will assist in placing students in jobs on campus, or at off campus non-profit agencies. Pay is currently $8.00 per hour.

America Reads
Students awarded FWS who are interested in literary work, America Reads, tutoring grade school students with reading or math must have a GPA of 2.5 or better, completed English 101 with a B or better and maintain at least 6 units. You need to be fingerprinted for clearance to work with these young people; the Financial Aid Office will absorb the cost. If you are interested in this most rewarding program, contact Mary Ott, 575-7701, in the Student Financial Services Office.
