Types of Financial Aid

There are many ways to finance your education. Because there are so many types of financial aid available, it is important to obtain accurate information. The Financial Aid Office is dedicated to assisting students and families through the financial aid process in the most effective and friendly manner possible. When you apply for the FAFSA, you are applying for:

Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW)
The California Board of Governors Fee Waiver assists eligible students with the enrollment fees by waiving the student's tuition fees (currently $36 per unit). To receive this assistance, students must complete a the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or complete the Fee Waiver Application. Students must be a California resident.

Federal and State Grants
A type of financial aid that does not have to be repaid; usually awarded on the basis of need.

Work Study Program
One of the campus-based programs; a part-time employment program which provides jobs for undergraduate and graduate students.

Loans
A type of financial aid that is available to students and their parents. Education loan programs have varying interest rates and repayment provisions. An education loan must be repaid.
