Assessment Test Dates
Requirements & Information
• Before testing, apply for admission and wait until your application has fully processed.
• Picture identification is required for all testing. No ID? No testing. Picture identification includes: drivers License, DMV identification card, passport, credit card with picture, employee ID, costo card, high school ID, high school year book, print-out from high school administrative office, military identification, permanent resident (green) card, and MJC student card.
• Walk-in lab hours are for Math 1-2-3 and English/Reading assessment--no appointments and no early arrival needed.
• Math Assessment--know which math level you will take before arriving to test. Levels 1, 2 and 3 are computerized. Level 4 is paper pencil and scheduled on a different day. Those taking level 4 should plan on only taking English/Reading during lab hours.
• ATB test appointments for students who have been advised to test by Financial Aid are required. Call 209 575-7728.
• ATB testing is untimed. Make sure you thoroughly review the practice links to the right because retests are limited. Please read all ATB test information before testing.
• Try to test at least 10 days BEFORE you need your test scores for other MJC services.
• For Precalculus math, ESL or ATB testing, arrive 15-20 minutes before the test.
• Purchase a $1.00 parking permit at yellow dispensers by each parking lot if needed. • Food and drinks are not allowed in the testing room.
• Children, friends or relatives are not allowed in the testing room. Children may NOT be left unattended inside or outside.
• To assess for another college, a fee of $15.00 will be charged.
• Accuplacer is the name of the English, reading and ATB test. It is computerized, un-timed and gives you English, Reading placement and ATB results immediately after the test.
• The Accuplacer reading test alone can be administered for students who have already satisfied the English assessment or class. It may be taken during any regularly scheduled English/Reading assessment.
• Assessment testing takes throughout the year except during federal holidays, Christmas and Thanksgiving. Each coming month's schedule will be posted between the 15th and 20th of the current month.
English/Reading & Math (Level 1-2-3)
This is a free, untimed test and for MJC students.
No appointments--walk-in hours only.
Average time: English/Reading-75 minutes; Math-50 minutes

Allow at least 3 hours for testing. No calculators allowed. Results are immediate. We strongly urge you to practice for several days using the recommended online practice resources.
