The MJC Foundation annually awards more than $69,000 in student scholarships from donor designated funds. More than $30,000 in program and staff development grants are funded each year for projects such as upgrading science lab equipment, supporting cultural campus events, purchasing musical instruments, providing electronic learning resources and books for the library. We also provide funding for many other important instructional needs at the college.

Foundation Successes

·      The 2007 Summer Sonata netted close to $67,000 to support MJC students.

·      The President’s Circle events exceeded $44,000.00 in membership donations. Donors may now join the President’s Circle at three membership levels: Bronze Level $1,000, Silver Level $1,500 and Gold level $2,500.

·      MJC’s 2008 scholarship celebration saw 372 students receive more than $181,000 in scholarships.

Summer Sonata ~ Thursday, July 15, 2010

The 14th Annual Summer Sonata will take place at the Majestic Gallo Center for the Arts. It's a perfect match having the college's premier event held at Modesto's premier facility. Aside from the change in venue, the Sonata will feature re-vamped auctions and programs as well as moving to a Thursday evening.

Over the years the Summer Sonata has raised over $850,000 for MJC student scholarships, program and staff grants, special projects, equipment, and supplies.

Stadium "Victory" Campaign

Thirty-three world records have been set at the MJC stadium since its humble installation in the early 1920's. Thanks to the tremendous support of loyal alumni, students, faculty and community members, the MJC stadium has become nationally known today.

NEWS: MJC Receives Stadium Scoreboard Donation!

Modesto Junior College received a new stadium scoreboard courtesy of a $150,000 donation by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local #684 chapter and the Northern California Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). The gift and the donors were recognized during the September 9 meeting of the Yosemite Community College District Board of Trustees. The new high tech scoreboard offers a multipurpose scoring system that displays all the essential game information and has a customized accent truss that identifies the MJC Stadium as "Home of the Pirates."
