Post Rural Artists exhibit at MJC Gallery
Modesto Junior College Art Gallery presents the exhibition Post Rural Artists on August 31 – September 24. The MJC Art Gallery is located on East Campus, 435 College Avenue and is open Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The display is open to the public and admission is free.
The show features painting, photography, sculpture and other works by artists Trey Hill, Brad Allen, Noah Wilson, Kevin Bell, Nicole Pietrantoni, Edgar Smith, Matt Hamon and James Bailey.
The work of these artists engages with the shifting notions of rural spaces. Post-rural describes themes emerging out of, and tangential to, a takeoff of postmodern concepts. The themes, narratives, objects, and aesthetic sensibilities present in these works of art consider the boundaries between urban, suburban, rural and wilderness areas of the American West.
A free, public reception with the artists will be held on Thursday, September 10, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Gallery. Refreshments will be served.
