New York Times columnist Frank Rich to speak at MJC

            The Modesto Junior College Distinguished Lecture Series proudly presents An Evening with Frank Rich, on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 7 p.m. in the the Main Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center located on East Campus.  Rich, a social-political Op-Ed columnist for the New York Times, will speak on "Art Culture and Politics."  His presentation will offer some insightful and entertaining analysis of the results of the national presidential election.   

            Rich's weekly 1,500 word essay on the intersection of culture and news has been appearing in the Sunday Week in Review section of the Times since 2005.  Prior to that he wrote a front page column in the Arts and Leisure section of the Times' Sunday edition.  He also serves as senior adviser to the Times' culture editor on the paper's overall cultural news report.  Rich has been at the paper since 1980, when he was named chief theater critic.

            Rich is the author of Ghost Light, a childhood memoir, Hotseat: Theater Criticism for the New York Times, a collection of his drama reviews, and his most recent book The Greatest Story Every Sold, The Decline and Fall of Truth From 9/11 TO Katrina.  Mr. Rich will sign books following his presentation.
