Modesto Junior College Cross Country Team invites anyone looking for some exercise before their Thanksgiving Day dinner to participate in the 18th Annual Modesto Turkey Trot and Gobbler Walk on Thursday, November 23 at the Tuolumne River Regional Park in Modesto.
The fun run for boys and girls (13 years and under) will begin with a half mile boys race at 8:45 a.m., followed by a half mile girls race 9 a.m. The 5 kilometer run will start at 9:30 a.m. and the 5 kilometer Gobbler Walk begins at 9:35 a.m. The 5 kilometer course (3.1 miles) follows the Tuolumne River on a mostly paved path, passing through the old oak groves in the park.
After the race there will be an awards ceremony and refreshments. Awards are given to the top three males and females in eight divisions and all participants in the children’s runs receive a medal.
Pre-registration is available online through Tuesday, November 21 at http://mjc.edu/athletics/wxc/turkeytrot with registration fees ranging from $15 to $30. Pre-registered participants can beat the race day rush by picking up their number and shirt the day before the race, November 22, 1 to 6 p.m. in the MJC Gymnasium located on Coldwell Avenue on East Campus. There is also in-person pre-registration available on November 22 in the Gymnasium.
