Celebrate MJC Athletics fundraiser to feature wine, beer and food tasting
The Modesto Junior College Foundation is hosting the 16th annual Celebrate MJC - Wine, Beer and Gourmet Food Tasting on Friday, May 8, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Mary Stuart Rogers Student Learning Center on West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Avenue, Modesto. The event features regional wines for sampling and beer tasting, accompanied by hors d’oeuvres, music and a silent auction. The fun event benefits the 21 sports in MJC’s Athletic Program.
To date, the wine tasting will include premium varietals from Bronco Wine Company, Classic Wines of California, Delicato Family Vineyards, E. & J. Gallo Family Vineyards, Hatcher Winery, Silkwood Wines and The Wine Group.
Beer sampling will be provided by Cencal Beverages, Delta Sierra Beverage, Dust Bowl Brewing, Tioga Sequoia Craft Brewery, Boston Beer Company and 559 Beer, as well as how to make your own beer from Barley & Wine.
Food and dessert providers include BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, Chopping Block Butcher Shop & Deli, Concetta, El Marisquero Authentic Mexican, Food Fix, Frost Bakery and Fine Foods, Hilmar Cheese Company, KFC, Martella Farms, O’Brien’s Market, Orient House Chinese and Japanese Cuisine, P. Wexford’s Pub, Papa John’s Pizza, Rivets American Grill, Starbucks, Texas Roadhouse, The Boardroom, The Cheesecake Kitchen, and Tony’s and Mrs. K’s Bakery Café.
Local artist Patty Davis will entertain by playing acoustic guitar and singing. Auction items will include premium wines, gift certificates, gift baskets, sports memorabilia and more.
Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased by calling the MJC Foundation at 575-6068 or MJC Athletics at 575-6270 or 575-6269, or purchased at the door. Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age to attend the event.
“Whether or not you are a sports fan, we invite you to come enjoy a fun evening of tasting food, wine and beer that supports MJC’s sports programs and our student athletes,” said Nick Stavrianoudakis, MJC athletics director.
