Mission Statement
The mission of the PRHE/Athletics
Division is to provide an instructional program for an ever-changing, diverse
student population with lifelong activity skills, advanced education of
preferred activity, and knowledge of health and fitness issues and their
relationship to a healthy lifestyle.
Vision Statement
Our vision of the future is one in
which the community looks to our programs as their best choice for enhancing
lifelong activity skills by promoting growth and self development. Our programs teach good sportsmanship and promote
enthusiastic involvement in the areas of health, wellness, recreation, dance,
adapted physical education, intercollegiate sports, athletic training, leisure
time pursuits and daily physical exercise.
Our program is universally recognized and admired for its professional
and diverse staff, quality curriculum and state-of-the-art facilities and
equipment. We provide training and
support services, and active partnerships with area health and fitness
facilities and professionals. Our
professional faculty stays up to date in their fields of expertise through
activities at the local, state, and national levels and set the highest
standards of education in instruction.
Goals
The PRHE/Athletics Division:
- Considers participation in health, wellness,
recreation, adapted physical education, intercollegiate sports, athletic
training, leisure time pursuits and daily physical exercise to be recognized
as an integral part of the educational experience.
- Conducts all classes, activities and sports
consistent with the educational aims of the college.
- Encourages all students to take advantage of
opportunities to represent Modesto Junior College and our Division will
strive for the college community to recognize and support their
representation.
- Provides a comprehensive program through the use of
degree options and prepares students for transfer, graduation and marketable
job skills.
- Supports students in their efforts to reach high
levels of performance by providing them with modern, state-of-the-art
facilities and equipment, access to the latest technology, and quality
instruction.
- Believes the safety and welfare of each student is
paramount.
- Encourages participation by maximizing the number
and variety of programs and activities to enhance our ever-changing, diverse
student population.
- Provides opportunities for students to pursue
credentials in areas that enable them to show advanced learning through our
classes and/or credentials.
- Promotes their programs within the local community
from youth through senior citizens.
- Continues to be pioneers in the implementation of
viable assessment guidelines which measure and quantify standards and
experiences in preferred activity.
