Head Coach: Gary Fischer Gary Fischer took over as Head Wrestling at Modesto Junior College in 2005, after sharing the Head Coaching position with long-time Head Coach Lee Ehrler in 2004. Fischer has been involved with MJC Wrestling since 1996. Fischer was a CIF California State Champion when he was in high school, and he was a two-time NCAA Division One All-American for Cal Poly when he was in college. During the ten years that Fischer has been involved with MJC; he has worked with many state placers, and has worked with competitors who have gone on to be Pac-10 placers, and NAIA All- Americans
Assistant Coach: Lance Campbell Lance Campbell became an assistant coach at MJC in 2005. He has been both a head and assistant coach at area high schools. Campbell, a former Pirate wrestler, is a former world champion in sombo wrestling, and has been active in a variety of grappling arts. Campbell is currently the Vice President of the U.S. Sombo Association. Campbell was the high school coach of former Pirate state placers Ken Pamanian (7th, 197-2001), Jeff Cox (4th, 149-2004), and Brandon Bear (2nd, 184-2001).
Volunteer Coach: Derek Scott Derek Scott has been the main technique coach for MJC for the past three seasons. Scott, a 1991 graduate of Escalon High School, was an NCAA Division One All-American for Cal State Bakersfield in college. Scott was also a USA FILA Junior World Greco Roman Champion. He is presently the head wrestling coach at Escalon High School.
