In 2005, Darrel Wilkins begins his eigth season as Head Coach of the Modesto Junior College Men's Soccer Program. Darrel has compiled an overall record of 71-51-18 at MJC, including a Central Valley Conference Championship in 1998 and four Nor Cal playoff appearances. Darrel has been named Central Valley Coach of the Year in 1998 and Bay Valley Coach of the Year in 2002. MJC has been honored with five NSCAA adidas All American selections during Darrel's tenure as Head Coach of the Pirates. Forward Antone Lopez (34 goals, 16 assists) was a repeat selection in 1998 and 1999. Forward Doug Lockwood (31 goals, 9 assists) was a selection in 2001, followed by central midfielder Will Brahic (18 goals, 13 assists) and goalkeeper Adam Tiscareno (1.00 goals ag. ave., 23 career wins) in 2002. Prior to MJC, Darrel was the Head Coach of the Fred C. Beyer High School Boys Varsity Team ('94-'97) in Modesto compiling an overall record of 88-9-13. The Patriots won three consecutive Central California Conference Championships, the Division I Sac-Joaquin Section Championship ('96), and the Sac Joaquin Section Academic Award in 1996 and 1997. MJC pirates that have transferred to play at a four year university include Jeremy Jostad (Chico State), Tim Goncalves (Sonoma State, National Champions '02), Antone Lopez (University of Mary), David Phipps (Fullerton), Marco Ramirez (Sacramento State), Will Brahic (University of the Ozarks), and Tim Parolla (Stanislaus State). Beyer Patriots that have transferred from '94-'97 that have played pro or college soccer include Gabe Eastman (LA Galaxy and SJ Earthquakes), Ryan Jack (UC Davis), Tony Cota (Santa Clara), Kyle Tanner (University of Portland), Matt Roberson (Chico State), Rodrigo Gomez (Universidad de Chile), Francisco Gomez (Universidad de Chile), and JJ Delello (Ohlone College). In addition to MJC, Darrel is Assistant Director of Coaching for the Ballistic United Soccer Club located in Pleasanton, CA. He also serves as the Head Coach of the Johansen Girls Varsity Soccer Program. Darrel has won three Snickers State Cup Championships, two with boys and one with girls, and is a former member of the CYSAN State Olympic Development Staff ('97-'01). Darrel currently holds a U.S.S.F. National B License and has a BA in History and Ethnic Studies from CSU Stanislaus. The MJC were ranked as high as #3 in the 2004 NSCAA rankings and finished the 2004 regular season at #15 according to www.NSCAA.com
Daniel Bote begins his first season as Assistant Coach on the Pirates staff. As a youth player, Daniel was a junior division player for Romanian First Division club Dinamo Bucuresti. Locally, Daniel has coached Class I boys teams for the Ajax United Soccer Club (Modesto) and the Tornadoes Soccer Club (Turlock). Daniel currently holds a USSF National D License and will be attending the USSF C Course this summer. Daniel immigrated to the US from Romania in 1985 and lives locally in Modesto with his wife and children.
