MJC MJC Reads KiteReads!

MJC Reads is a program, developed by the Literature & Language Arts Division, designed to introduce students and faculty to new authors in several different genres. In the fall semesters, the Literature & Language Arts Division will sponser authors in fields such as poetry and creative fiction, while in the spring semester, it will sponser authors of fiction and non-fiction. Students are encouraged to get involved through campus activities and classroom discussion. Many Composition and Reading instructors adopt MJC Reads selections for their class curriculum.

Spring Semester 2006: Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner

Over 1,500 of our students in English, ESL, and reading classes read a magnificent novel, The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini. If you love to read, we welcome you to read the novel and be part of our discussion groups.  Over the course of the semester, we are planning many activities that will enrich our understanding and appreciation of this book and of the culture and arts of Afghanistan and of the Middle East.
