The Nurse Assistant Program at Modesto Junior College is a one-semester course (NURSE 40, 5.0 units) that includes 50 hours of classroom instruction and 100 hours of supervised clinical experience within the guidelines set by the State Department of Health Services. The Program is offered in the fall and spring semesters. After successful completion of the Program, students are eligible to take the certification examination to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). The exam has been developed to meet the evaluation requirements of federal and state nurse aid and competency evaluation legislation. Red Cross testing is available at MJC at the end of each class. NOTE: Must attend Lecture both Thursdays and Fridays 1pm-5pm the 1st 2 weeks of term. Clinical rotation begins the 3rd week. As you register for Nurse 40 you should go to the Student Health Services website click here or type "Allied Health Clearance Process" into the search window on the MJC website and follow the directions for Allied Health students. Additional costs: uniforms and $90.00 Red Cross Testing fee (due at the 11th week of term). More details the 1st day of class.
