The EOP&S program is a state funded program of support services which are designed to be above and beyond the scope of other services offered by the college.

For 40 years this year,  EOP&S has provided economically and educationally disadvantaged students with assistance to help them pursue their educational and vocational goals. Our objective is to help students enhance their abilities and become successful college students.

In 1969, the late State Senator Alfred Alquist (D-San Jose) authored Assembly Bill 164/69, which allocated state funds to create the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOP&S) in the California Community College system. This legislation made available state funding to develop programs which would provide community colleges access to thousands of students disadvantaged by social, economic or linguistic circumstancesEOPS students.

Four decades later, EOP&S is still serving over 104,000 eligible EOP&S students in 109 community college campuses across the State of California.
