Disability Services has an efficient and friendly office staff that can answer your questions and provide you with the help you need in completing an application.
The Office serves both prospective and current students who have documented disabilities, and who request services on the basis of a disabling condition.
DSPS front office staff assists students with the application process by phone and in person. They schedule appointments for advising, LD intake, and student concerns; and answer questions regarding DSPS program, services offered, testing accommodations, priority registration and other services on MJC campus. Staff also receive and document verification eligibility.
DSPS has staff that assists the LD Specialist in our office and maintains data bases that have been created with information to assist students to better understand testing behaviors. They also keep a running inventory of testing equipment.
DSPS also has staff that are testing administrators for course related quizzes, exams and tests given to qualifying students. Testing accommodations can include extra time, reading and writing assistance and enlarged print. Tests must be arranged in advance and tests requested for a different day or time are only with instructor approval. Arrangements can be made for accommodated English, Reading and Math assessment tests too.
The Testing Center on the East Campus is located in Journalism Building room 160 and on West Campus Yosemite Hall room 145A.
