The Modesto Junior College Theatre Department will present the classic play One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Dale Wasserman on October 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and on October 25, 31 and November 1 at 2 p.m. All shows are in the Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center on East Campus.
Based on the best-selling novel by Ken Kesey, the play takes place in a mental institution in the Pacific Northwest. The fine balance of the ward's existence is threatened when a new arrival is thrown into the mix of acute and chronic patients.
The MJC production is directed by theatre professor Lynette Borrelli and stars Tyress Loveless as Randle McMurphy, Kathleen Ennis as Nurse Ratchet, Michael Martinez as Chief Bromden and Timothy Glidewell as Billy Bibbet. The play premiered in 1963 and the 2001 Broadway revival won the Tony Award that year for Best Play Revival.
Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for students and senior citizens and are available online at http://mjc.tix.com, at the Box Office on Tuesday through Friday, 12 noon to 5 p.m., or by calling 575-6776 during Box Office hours.
