Wine lovers, food connoisseurs and sports enthusiasts alike will find something to please their palate at this year's Celebrate Modesto Junior College Pirates Wine and Gourmet Food Tasting on Saturday, April 18, 6:30 - 9 p.m. in the MJC Gymnasium, on East Campus. Proceeds from the event will benefit the 21 intercollegiate sports in the MJC Athletics Program.
The event will feature a selection of regional wines showcasing "top end" area vintages for the tasting. Participating wineries that have signed on to date include E. & J. Gallo Winery, Quady Winery, Bogle Winery, McManis Family Vineyard, Trinchero Winery, and Barefoot Winery.
The evening also includes a complimentary array of gourmet dishes provided by over 15 local restaurants and caterers. While "noshing" on wine and hors d'oeuvres, attendees can shop at the silent auction for sports memorabilia, sports shirts, gift baskets, gift certificates, wine and much more. Art Thoms from Art's Sports Artifacts will be on hand to sell sports collectibles and memorabilia.
Tickets for the Celebrate MJC Pirates evening are $35 per person ($20 of the purchase price is tax deductible) and you must be 21 years of age or older to attend. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the MJC Athletics Department at 575-6267 or the MJC Foundation Office at 575-6619. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
"Whether you are a sports fan, a person who appreciates fine wines and food, an alumnus of MJC, or just looking for an entertaining Friday evening that supports a great program - you will enjoy this event," said Dr. Bill Kaiser, Dean of Physical, Recreation and Health Education and Director of Athletics at MJC.
