Veteran Services


The Modesto Junior College Office of Veterans Services welcomes and is eager to support those who served in the armed forces and their qualified dependents.  Modesto Junior College is approved for the training of veterans, reservists, and eligible dependents under applicable federal and state laws administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the State Department of Veterans Affairs. The primary responsibilities of the MJC Office of Veteran Services is the administration of veteran educational benefit programs, including the liaison between the veteran and the Department of Veterans Affairs, the process and certification of VA educational benefits.  In addition, the office provides other resources and contacts, such as career planning, financial aid, and other student services.  We encourage Veterans attending MJC to contact the office in person, by phone, or by email with any questions they may have pertaining to VA Educational benefits.

Modesto Junior College Grants Priority Registration to Veterans and Active Duty Members of the United States Armed Forces

Modesto Junior College grants priority registration to any member or former member of the Armed Forces of the United States. The Armed Forces includes the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp, National Guard, and Reservists. To establish eligibility for priority registration, members of the Armed Forces must have completed basic training and must present a valid military identification or DD214 to the MJC Veteran Services Office staff. 

Additional Monetary Assistance

Financial Aid is available to qualifying MJC students, including veterans, reservists, and dependents receiving VA educational benefits. All financial aid is based on a federal formula, which considers and examines income, assets, and household size. Please apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, for additional information please contact the Financial Aid Office: (209) 575-7700, or visit them in the west campus in Yosemite Hall, Room 147.

Military Withdrawal

A student called for active duty may receive a military withdrawal at any time during the semester.  Military withdrawals will not be factored into progress probation.  To drop classes using a military withdrawal option, student must submit a copy of military activation/orders long with a drop form for each class to the Admissions Office.
