How to Apply for Financial Aid
- The financial aid process begins with the FAFSA. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) directly on the Internet through FAFSA on the Web. Be sure to list MJC's school code 001240 in Step Six of the application.
- If you are applying for a Cal Grant, you may also need to complete and file a GPA Verification Form by the March 2nd deadline (or September 2nd for competitive Cal Grants). Contact the Financial Aid Office for assistance.
- Once you have completed your FAFSA, you will receive an output document called a Student Aid Report (SAR) by email within 3 days or by mail within 4 weeks. Review the SAR carefully for accuracy. The Financial Aid Office can process corrections electronically if you need to make changes to your SAR information.
- The MJC Financial Aid Office will receive your FAFSA information electronically and notify you by letter or email to submit additional documents. Your application will be processed in the order it was received by our office (PLEASE NOTE: Incomplete applications will result in processing delays).
IMPORTANT NOTE: You must apply for or renew your financial aid each school year. Financial aid is not continued automatically from one year to the next, nor is it automatically transferable from one college to another. If you plan to transfer to MJC from another school, check with our Financial Aid Office for information about application requirements.
